Your home’s overall air quality is important when it comes to keeping your home’s residents healthy. There are many ways that you can filter the air entering and circulating throughout your home, but one of the best ways is to make sure that you regularly switch out your air filters.
Air filters should be a regular part of maintaining your heating and cooling system. For help choosing the right filter for your home, contact the team at Aladdin Air Conditioning & Heating today!
Air filters work to keep pollutants, allergens, and even harmful bacteria from entering and thriving in your home. Aladdin’s advanced air filters work by taking the existing air in your home and separating out the offending particles. Your home’s air passes through the filter at least twice an hour, and as it passes through the filter, the air is cleaned.
Having a good filter installed within your HVAC system can help keep your home healthier, and will allow the air in your home to feel fresh and clean.
Changing your filter on a regular basis is important. As you can imagine, your filter is working hard to capture dust, dander, pet hair, as well as other allergens, and after a month or two this filter can become clogged. When you have clogged filters in your system, your air will no longer be cleaned properly. Clogged filters can also do damage to your HVAC system, because the system will have to work harder to push the air through the filter.
Ideally, you should change your filter out every 2-3 months. This should happen more often if you have pets in your home, or if your home’s occupants have allergies, asthma, or other upper respiratory issues.
There are two types of air filters: the first are permanent filters which can be washed and cleaned, and then placed back in your system, and the second are replaceable filters. Replaceable filters are the most common and can be easily switched out on a regular basis.
If you have a permanent filter in your system, you will need to take it out and wash it on a regular basis. It is best to give it a quick vacuum first, and then take your filter outside and wash it using a hose. Make sure the filter is completely dry before placing it back in your HVAC system.
Replaceable filters slide out so you can easily replace them with a new filter. Just make sure you use the arrows on the filter to be sure they are placed properly.
Which filter you choose will depend on your HVAC system and your home’s needs.
